INTRODUCTION TO DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY/CYBER ART – COURSE 5928
Grades: 9, 10, 11, 12 Prerequisite: None .5 Credit Introduction to Digital Photography/Cyber Art is designed to give students a working knowledge of the camera using proper vocabulary and techniques to improve their photography skills and increase the quality of their photos. Students will work with the Elements of Art (Line, Shape, Color, Value, Form, Texture and Space) and learn to manipulate photos, including retouching and special effects, and use editing tools in Adobe Photoshop – the premier digital imaging software used by professional photographers and graphic designers around the world. Students will explore historical photographers and their contribution to photography as well as showcase their own work in a comprehensive Project Portfolio as evidence of learning throughout the course. |
INTERMEDIATE DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY/CYBER ART – COURSE 5934
Grades: 9, 10, 11, 12
Prerequisite: Introduction to Digital Photo/Cyber Art

Whether you’re interested in fine art, graphic design, or developing web sites, a mastery of digital photography gives you creative control of the medium. Intermediate Digital Photography/Cyber Art provides students with a deeper knowledge of digital photographic techniques and allows them to explore more advanced methods of electronic and traditional image manipulation. This course includes working with the Principles of Design (Balance, Contrast, Emphasis, Movement, Pattern, Rhythm and Unity) to improve photographic composition. Students will combine images to produce photo montage and other special effects as well as experiment with lighting and shadow techniques. Critique will be incorporated in this class also to improve personal works through compare and contrast techniques. Students will explore contemporary photographers and their contribution to photography as well as showcase their work in a comprehensive Project Portfolio as evidence of learning throughout the course.
ADVANCED DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY/CYBER ART – COURSE 5938
Grades: 10, 11, 12
Prerequisite: Intermediate Digital Photography/Cyber Art

Advanced Digital Photography/Cyber Art builds upon an intermediate level of Photoshop comprehension and camera knowledge. Each student will have the unique opportunity to devise challenging digital art projects based upon design criteria and their own photographic interests. Instruction is differentiated and projects will be selected on an individual basis in order to challenge each student’s level of knowledge and to maximize their learning experience and creativity. This course includes advanced Adobe Photoshop techniques, special effects, photo manipulation and retouching. Experimentation is encouraged as a way to develop a deeper understanding of the digital design medium. Students will create a Photography Portfolio in both printed and electronic form to be shared with potential ‘clients’ or distributed to prospective employers.
