Greetings Bedford Families,
My name is Jeremy Snyder and I teach art and technology to students in grades kindergarten through twelve. I am very proud to be a part of the outstanding staff at Bedford High School and have been working feverishly to make your son or daughter's experience a great one. While most know me as an art specialist, some may also know me through other capacities in which I have served during my tenure with Bedford Public Schools and involvement in the community including Bedford PTA Council, Bedford Business Association, Bedford Alumni Association, Bedford Heart of Hope, Leadership Monroe, United Way of Monroe County, etc.
Prior to coming to Bedford Public Schools, I taught youth studio classes at the Toledo Museum of Art and worked as a Graphic Arts manager for Churchill’s Supermarkets, Inc. I was hired by the district in the summer of 2000 as the Director of Communications, responsible for marketing and public relations. That position was reduced to half-time in 2007 and I began teaching art classes at the high school to maintain full-time status. It was there that my passion for teaching and working with children was reignited so I created and designed a new three-part course in Digital Photography & Cyber Art and began teaching full-time in 2008. The classes were very successful and became quite popular with the high school students. I also taught art foundations and an occasional ceramics class. With the continuing educational funding crisis and the closing of Smith Road Elementary, it became necessary to reduce the district’s specialists and since I only had five years of teaching seniority at the time, I was reduced to part-time and transferred to Douglas Road in 2011. I returned to full-time status two years later, shortly after the closure of Temperance Road Elementary in 2013. When a position opened up at the high school in 2015 teaching my beloved Digital Photography & Cyber Art courses as well as ceramics and art foundations classes, I decided that I would like to move back. I had a great, second full-time run at the high school for four years. For the 2019-2020 school year I was informed that due to decreased enrollment and student numbers in electives being down, I would pick up two classes at Bedford Junior High and teach three still at Bedford High School. Always up for a new challenge, I look forward to another great year!
My wife is a first grade teacher at Monroe Road Elementary and I have a son who was born in 2012 and boy/girl twins that were born in 2014. Not only do I love and enjoy spending time with my own family, I am also blessed to be working with all of the wonderful students and staff that make up my Bedford schools family. I sincerely hope to enjoy this privilege for many years to come.
Best Regards,
